"This guy used to be one half of Aussie pop sensation Savage Garden - now he's all alone. But is he Truly Madly Deeply happy with that? We attempt to find out...

MORE - Darren, it must feel odd being a solo artist now...
DARREN - Not really, Savage Garden did split up a bit prematurely - I was expecting a couple more albums. So its been a bit of a roller coaster ride, but I'm looking forward to a new challenge, actually.

MORE - So, what direction will you be taking?
DARREN - I've just done a solo record, which is more personal, so now I draw on my own influences. The roots of it are in soul music, and its basically electronic pop

MORE - Where do you draw your major influences from?
DARREN - Just stuff that I loved when I was younger, like Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson. Even stuff like the Eurythmics and Cindy Lauper.

MORE - So, who do you admire nowadays?
DARREN - Well, I'll be thirty this year, so I don't really look to others with adulation any more, I just want to keep doing the stuff I am.

MORE - Changing tack, when did you last have a snog?
DARREN - Oh, I'm not really into answering those kind of questions, I don't get into the personal thing...

MORE - Could you at least tell us about any bad habits?
DARREN - Sorry, I'm not into this anymore...''

Ah, now we know why you've gone solo...
