Consternation at the fans :Savage Garden it's finished. After "Truly, Madly, Deeply
", "To the Moon and Back" and others smash hits , Daniel chose to follow
another road .That one feels reassured, Darren Hayes decided to steal his own wings. After
his single "Insatiable" , he is releasing his first album "Spin" ,
that looks like to sexy savage garden ...
Hello Darren, the last time what one
had seen you, it was during the Savage Garden's world tour, what memoriesdo you keep it?
It was really tiring .But it was an extraordinary experience. We travelled everywhere. We
went to South Africa!
It was your last collaboration with
Daniel?
What was hard, it was to know that Daniel was going to leave the group. We spent so many
good moments together. But of other one quoted, it removed us quite a lot of pressure. We
knew that it was the last time and we did everything to take advantage of it...
You said nothing about it in the time
...
It's true. We hid, in a way, the truth to our fans. Really, the separation of Savage
Garden goes back up to almost two years....
What are your feeling to be alone
now?
To be honest, it changes not matter. I got used to doing things only. There or that risks
to make for me bizarre, it is when I am going to go back up on scene. It is going to make
strange not to have him in my sides.
Will continue you to sing on scene
the songs of Savage Garden?
Naturally. They are as well my songs. They are a part of my life, my career. And then in
fact, the public wishes it.
How did the fans react to this
separation?
There was a little of everything. Many encouraged me enormously. Some was angry against me
, the others to Daniel . Most of the fans were very well.
What do you think of the decision of
Daniel?
It is hard to explain. Of a certain side, I support Daniel in his decision. But of other
one, I did more and more things in the group. I assured promotion alone. And I saw that he
wrote songs for the others, that he had taken up his own label. For me the group, it was
us two against the whole world. To see him going away so a little hurt me.
Are irritated you with Daniel?
In no way. It is somebody who brought me enormously .He forced me to grow .He gave me the
opportunity to do the things which I would never have done without him.
How are kept silent to you attacked(affected) in this solo album? How kept silent begun
this solo album?
I have written a great deal of songs. Not far from about forty. It took me on one year. I
was in a studio in San Francisco to work. It was a little bit terrible experience, but
finally really interesting. I felt an enormous feeling freedom.
What is ,according to you, the
difference between this album and what you did with Savage Garden?
It is definitely more sex! And then, you can dance by listening it. In fact, I put a lot
of spices in what I made before. And naturally, it is not any more a group work, it 's me.
I sing differently and the words are not any more the same.
Feel you kept silent better today?
Completely. I was able to return at home, in Australia, to take advantage of my country. I
am can be happier than never I was.
One of the songs of the album is
called "Strange Relationships," what does it mean?
It is a mixture of love and hatred. Most of my relations are like that. Notably my
relation with Leonie . Is it just my manager? Is she my best friend? Should I get married
to her? My affairs are as well the same type.
Why?
Because I am not necessarily quiet. I am a passionate person. Frenchmen can understand
that, I believe (laugh)!!
