Couch Potato
Darren Hayes, former Savage Garden frontman, talks us through his day of vegging Outfit: Probably some track pants and one of my oldest T-shirts. And a beanie hat so I don't have to worry what my hair looks like. Television: I'm a big fan of Changing Rooms! [laughs] It's like fantasy TV. I always have these great ideas of what I'd like to do to my place but I never have time. I also love Real World. A back-to-back Real World marathon is my idea of bliss. Music: I like the current albums by Basement Jaxx and Spiritualized. I actually have a broader taste in music than my actual music suggests. I listen to all sorts and take it all in. Listening to other types of music is a huge help when it comes to songwriting. Books: I've just started Lord Of The Rings because I loved the film. It's going OK but I've only read about ten pages - it's so long! It's great for the long flight home to Oz! I'm a real magazine whore. I get so excited at airports when I can buy like 17 different ones and just sit there and read them. Films: I love films from when I was a kid. I love The Goonies, the Indiana Jones movies, Star Wars and Hitchcock movies. Rear Window is one of my favourite films. Food: Anything carbohydrate, preferably pasta, bagels and I'm also into Japanese food. If I had to eat the same meal for the rest of my life it would be miso glazed sea bass. It's amazing. Website: I love mullet.com dedicated to that oh-so attractive hairstyle. Check it out, it's hilarious! I don't shop online but I use email a lot and I use the internet like a library to look stuff up. But I'm not a big net head to be honest. Albums: Darren Hayes Spin What's the deal? Perfectly produced soul pop from Darren Savage Garden Hayes. Jacko-esque vocals about searching for love fill the album and the tempo moves from slow and soppy to upbeat grooves. Standout track? Raunchy Dirty where Daz invites a lady into his life. When to listen to it: You're through with love and must boogie through your bitterness. |
