Darren Hayes: They want to ruin me!
And who are those villains? They are his own producers! Thus Darren considers. But he decided to struggle up to the victory...
Hayes was doing yoga, as always in the mornings. He has just stiffened, standing on his head (he just learnt this yoga position). At this very moment his friend, swinging with the paper in her hands, literally rushed into the door. "Well, some troubles, - Darren thought calmly, not changing a pose. - She will tell me that the album failed, and I will send to hell this rotten work and will move to Hawaii forever, and will do yoga there all day long".
THE WAR WITH BOSSES
Life of international artist is hard and plain. This is the way Darren thinks. "Just think about it: there is nothing good in my life. If you won't count short moments of uttermost ecstasy, when I'm bathed in waves of national love at concerts, and my million-dollars bank account - everything else is titanic work and continuous troubles". And he is right! Because of his work he broke up with the woman he loved. Because of terrible amount of work, his best friend and teacher, Daniel Jones, the other founder of Savage Garden, has left him. "Daniel always hated touring, concerts and the sfuff, - Darren tells us. - The only thing he ever wanted was to work in the studio. When I discovered, that he hasn't told me about side project, he was busy with, I was shocked. I simply lost my reference points". And here is another disaster - his producers, who don't want to give the singer a piece of freedom. "Sometimes it seems to me that I've become a slave. I have to do only the things I am said to! They are killing me! An artist should be independent. And they are just take my soul, and money - from general public".
THE GUY WITH SWEET VOICE
Savage Garden, with no doubt, was super band. Their second (and the last) album, "Affirmation", sales exceeded 10 million copies. And it was natural, that Darren's bosses were not going to loose their source of gold. They considered that Darren's solo career should become the continuation of Savage Garden. That meant, that nothing should change. But Darren decided that he would do only the things he want to do. Both in music and in life. Even in his image. He stopped dying his hair black (we've never saw his natural haircolour before) and let it grow. When bosses saw his latest video, which costed 800 thousand bucks, they were on the edge of heart attack: "No one will recognize you! No one will need you. You change your image now!"
"You know, - Darren refers to his fans, - I'm tired of being a guy with sweet voice, singing songs about unreal highest love. Why can't you sing about other things, which interest everyone? Yes, it's cool, when the girls from all other the world love you. But, firstly, I would never be able to satisfy them all. And secondly, my appearance is ideal. That's why I can concentrate on things, which I like. I think that my debute album "Spin" is much more wiser then my previous works, and definitely more sexy". The bosses, realizing that Darren won't change his mind, thought: "You're fool! Your wise and sexy album will fail, and we won't give you another chance. You'll loose your job".
Darren's friend, still swinging with the paper, shouted: "Darren! You're genius! The album is sold out! People want it!" Hayes, still standing on his head, by gesture offered her to sit down. When he finished his exercise, he said: "Anyone had any doubts?.."
"We had no doubts! - with these words his bosses met him the next day. - We were sure your new image will be even more popular!"
"Oh well, oh well..." - Darren grined.
